Back when my children were young I read a book called "Between Parent and
Child" by Dr. Ginott. In that book he said that when children engaged in
annoying or undesirable behavior and a parent asked them to stop, a child
will frequently repeat the behavior one more time in order to assert their
independence. If the parent repeats the admonition, the child will again
repeat the behavior. This can become a cycle that spins out of control for
both parent and child so it is often better to let the child "have the last
word" and simply ignore the last repetition. In his experience the child
would be satisfied and cease at that point.

Perhaps Weary's longevity has something to do with never progressing beyond
that stage of childhood. In any case, his response was predictable based on
his history on AT-L and I intend to let him have the last word. I propose
that you do the same.
