Being the FNG, I have to ask:  Can somebody explain the 
oh-so-very-strange quoting prefix that some of you use?

Not only is it not standard, but it's interpreted as a text modifier by 
older mail clients.

Just curious why one would choose to use it over the universal "> " 
quote prefix.
