A LOT of people hike the PCT in trail runners - as do many of those on the
CDT. And there's more snow on either of those than you'll run into on the
AT unless you're doing a winter hike. And maybe not then. So it's doable.
Yeah - your feet will get wet. They'll also get wet if you're wearing
leather boots.
The trail runners will dry a lot faster. OTOH - the times I've used them,
they've eaten my feet so I don't use them much anymore. Different strokes -
or maybe just different feet. <G>
