[at-l] Happy Birthday, including Charles

>"rusty - May 11"

And Weary May 4. And I'm not going to tell you folks again. I'm in the process
of forgetting such things. Jeese. 74 are enough.

BTW. Bill Silliker, Maine's most prominent wildlife photographer, whose
photographs of Baxter Park moose have appeared in dozens of magazines, several
books, and on dozens of wildlife calendars, died in Baxter Park yesterday. Bill
was among my favorite people.

He was a true friend of wilderness. Bill was leading a group of photographers on
a tour of the park. He was a young, and vigorous, 57. Sadly, he was also 30,
maybe 50, pounds overweight.

Legal camping at Baxter concludes tomorrow, the 15th, and it won't be a great
day for late arriving thru-hikers. Forecasts call for an inch of rain, and 50
mph winds, followed by several days of unseasonably cold weather -- which in
Baxter means, ice, snow and closed trails.
