FWIW, The ATC page letting people know where to send their money is telling 
them that while they haven't approved a final design:

"We do know the ATC trademark — the Trail-marker diamond — will be 
incorporated in a design that's different from those for the Smokies and the 
Blue Ridge Parkway and will stand out on the road."
