Fiona Ritichie use to broadcast her public radio show on Celtic Music from
Charolotte, NC. I use to listen to it a lot. She always had a lovely
accent, but since moving back to Scotland her accent is more Scottish than
it was.
And when I use to visit my kin folk in Florida, I would come back to South
Carolina with a Yankee accent. I also remember an "actor" who sounded as
"hick" as any hillbilly ever sounded. He never became a star, but he use to
teach other actors how to speak with a correct accent for almost any
language: I saw a TV article on him showing some actor how to speak English
as if she was a native born Russian speaking American English. And all I
could think was, "Wow. And he sounds like me naturally." Now I love my
accent; especially after getting complimented at a SF con on how lovely my
Southern accent was. Since then my accent has moved even farther South. ;-)
As to Orientals and accents... There is a Korean or Chinese commedian who
is from the Kentucky or Tenn. area. When I first heard him, I was a bit
shocked when I looked at the TV screen and saw him. He sounds like my
cousins.

When I came back from living in Ireland, I sounded Irish, which is fine
since I'm a dual national with Ireland anyway, and Americans tend to find
Irish accents charming. When I came back from living in India, I sounded
Indian, which baffled everyone, since I look Irish, lol. I worked hard in
voice lessons to get rid of my soCal accent, but it'll still come back when
I talk to someone else with a strong soCal accent. That's okay because
that's where I'm from.
However, I DO NOT want to sound like a southern Arizonan! Nonononono!!!
