[at-l] Young, female, and thru-hiking

i suggest you have fun and dont talk to strange people.

seriously. a few of the woman i saw that were hiking alone dressed in VERY
conservative clothing. not wearing tight pants and shirt 3 sizes to small.
i guess as a sign to males on the prowl... i never saw them get bothered....
and i dont think i have ever "bothered" a woman. so i dont know but i am not
a female.

it seemed like a good idea to me. it seems like a sign to stop "advances"
before they came at them i guess. a way of saying "i am not interested" ..
many of these woman wore hats and kept the hair in the hat so from a
distance it was also hard to tell if they were male or female. (baggy
clothing and short looking hair from more then 40 feet all looks the same)

am i really dense- is this the reason for that or do some woman just really
like that look?

19 and with a chance summer to spare, I'm setting off next July SOBO and
very much solo. I've been a bp'er since I was a child and completely a thru
hike has been a goal of mine for sometime now. Any suggestions anyone?
What about trail safety?
