[at-l] Semi OT - Shakespeare
>"...an individual, an organization, a business - or a society - either grows or
>dies. There is no third option." thinks Jim.
The human mind is capable of weird beliefs, weird articles of faith. This is
among the more extreme examples.
>"...Like you, I've learned - that people operate out of either fear or faith.
>Those who operate out of fear say "Stop". Those who operate out of faith say
>"Go."
I don't know about you, but I've learned no such thing. Wise people weigh facts
and make a judgments based on those facts. Since the world hasn't expanded in
all of human history, I kind of doubt if it will expand to accommodate our
infinite growth. Yes I know, some dream of mining the rest of the universe to
accommodate our blind growth.
I dream of winning the lottery. But I'm not going to bet my house on it.
Formula thinking is not a good way to manage anything, whether it be small is
always beautiful or big is always better. Of the two, I find big is better the
more ominous. Knowing humans, I know the first things that will be sacrificed
when the pinch comes are the trails and wild places that make life liveable for
some of us.
