I have taken Pilates classes. There are very good, especially for developing 
core body strength. It is much more difficult than you might imagine. If there 
is a class in your area it would probably be worth the cost to take one 
session in order to understand the techniques correctly, Then I think a  good  tape 
would be beneficial. Lately I've been using a Swiss ball, with the book 
Pilates on the Ball. I like the extra support the ball gives. Core body strength is 
good for hikers, and can help prevent injury as well.
