Jonesville makes a nice place for a maildrop. The PO
is more or less on the trail. It it also has a small
"grocery" store you can supply out of if you aren't
too picky. A friend of mine was just there after his
LT trip. He reported they now appear to stock it w/
hikers in mind. I suspect the selction is better than
when I did the LT in '99.(More LT hikers now?)
Probably no worse than some of the stores we supplied
out of for the PCT...
Johnson is a college town. Has a very good sized
grocery store with everything you need. Absolutely no
reason to a do a maildrop here if you do not have any
dietary restrictions. This town is an easy hitch. Be
sure to stop by the Long Trail Tavern, have a some
great bar and grill food, wash it down with a Long
Trail Ale. You can see the tavern from the trail.
Great place for a bit to eat before heading into
Johnson...
