[at-l] What'd I miss?

One of my friends stayed with a French family for a short time -- some kind
of an exchange program. They took him to a French beach. He was amazed
when the girls started changing in front of him. He later asked the oldest
out. "Sorry but I don't know you well enough."

I guess our customs seem as strange to others.

Such as tips being voluntary. In many countries they are included in the
bill.

SPEAKING OF WHICH:
If any of you have hiked outside the US, what "differences" did you notice
that affected your hike?

For instance, in Great Britain, hiking use to mean hiking from
bed'n'breakfasts to bed'n'breakfasts. Or to inns. Little camping out in a
tent was done at one time. So it was more like American slack-packing in
style.

When we were in Spain last summer, and this is trail related because we
hiked a lot of the Camino, it amazed me that the Spaniards would go topless
on the beach, but they didn't wear shorts on the street. Only the tourists
had on shorts. anklebear
