[at-l] Hunting season dates

Bear season starts the last week of August in Maine, and the first week of 
September in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Big game hunting 
continues through October and November. Certain archery and game bird seasons can 
start as early as July.
Safety rules to keep in mind: Avoid wearing white, don't be confrontational 
when you meet hunters on the AT (and you will), and wear blaze orange.
Hiker decorating hints: Orange pack covers can be made from those "pumpkin" 
leaf bags they sell at Halloween. Wait til after Halloween and they're wicked 
cheap. Duct Tape comes in safety orange, usually sold in the hunting sections 
of stores like WalMart/Target/Sears, and is great for marking up your pack. 
After hunting season things like orange watch caps, ball caps, vests, and even 
daypacks are marked way down.
