[at-l] glucosamine and chondroit

"Quackwatch.org" is balanced? The very name of the site suggests bias as
does your comment that the subject "raises it's ugly head". For starters
most doctors I've encountered (including the ones on AT-L) regard
glucosamine with bemused tolerance at best or outright distaste. My own
doctor seems to regard it as a harmless notion of mine. Do some people have
bad reactions to it? Undoubtedly! As I have observed in past discussions of
glucosamine's head (beauty is in the eye of the beholder) there is hardly
anything that some one isn't allergic to. Coffee makes me sick to my
stomach, my wife can't drink milk. Are they ugly nasty substances? No.

At the time that I saw what it did for my dog I started taking it for knees
that had been in pain for over 6 months straight. I couldn't do a lot of
NSAIDs due to a stomach problem (long story involving a prescribed cure that
ended up being worse than the problem). Within weeks I was virtually pain
free. Nothing ugly about that.
