[at-l] GOT: Business as bad as governement (was) RE:State workers-non l ist related!

I am a federal employee who is a chemist (Ph.D. type) and the
real joy in my life is to go into the lab and do research.
Unfortunately I am writting the year report, putting the
finnishing touches on next years budget, completely
rewritting my research project (for the next 5 years), trying
to write a paper (I have a mandatory requirement of writing
one paper a year, this is paper #3), trying to get a
collaborative research project which some Egyptan scientists
start, trying to get two collaborative research projects with
industry started (Tech Transfer) and clean out my filing
cabinet of old drafts of the above paper work. THe paper
work will kill ya and the government is really into CYA mode
at thie moment. I would blame it on the republicans, but
after they got burned with the Sept 11th attacks they want
everything documented. To make matters worse, I use to have
a part time secretary. She has since left and her position
was eliminated so I have to do all of the typing myself.
Y'all seen how well I type and spell. The government is
doomed.
