Does anyone have the link to the on-line version of the Companion that
they can forward to Kelly? There might be some stuff in there that will
help her planning.
Thanks.

Subject: [at-l] Question about food and mail drops
I was working on a schedule for mail drops when I got a dose of reality:
my
fibromyalgia flared up. It doesn't happen often but it does happen.
It's
unpredictable and sometimes necessitates a few days' rest.
That won't stop me from finishing the trail but it makes planning mail
drops
more difficult because I could be laid up for up to 5 days at any point.
I
wasn't going to try to keep to any rigid schedule but I was trying to
roughly plan out some idea of when I was going to be where. I was
originally trying to schedule weekly mail drops (mainly food, my body
just
doesn't run well on junk food and I'm also a vegetarian). My drops are
coming from Arizona, so I have to do SOME planning.
I'll still have to have a few mail drops for gear, but now I'm back to
looking at resupplying food along the trail. Could someone tell me a
little
more about the kinds of food you find along the route? Is it more like
that
which you find in convenience stores (Circle K, 7-11), small-town
grocery
markets (the kinds you find in rural mountain communities), supermarkets
(Albertson's, Von's, Basha's, etc.), or do they have actual prepackaged
backpacking food? Or all of those? Am I stressing out about this and
there's no reason to be? lol
I'll eat Pop Tarts and Snickers until they come out of my ears if that's
what it takes to make it to Maine, but if I know where to look for some
healthier options, I'll definitely take advantage of them, too.
