[at-l] INSECT Problems- BRS

I don't have a horror story but the most I've ever been scared by spiders
was when I was helping clear around my dad's barn (in Shorter, AL) and I
picked up a pile of wood to haul away and as I walked I noticed black dots
hanging off the wood and on my arms, legs and feet. I looked closer and saw
they were baby black widows!

I threw down the boards and started smacking everything in sight and jumped
and hopped and looked pretty silly for a few seconds. After I smashed
every bug I could spot I looked on the boards I'd just picked up and there
was a big, really big mommy black widow and a few more of its babies. I had
lifted the boards only a few inches from where she was - but somehow
received no bites from her or her offspring.

*whew*

No. But I've often thought that a good bumper sticker would read: "Charlotte
was
a brown recluse"

Or in the north, perhaps, "Charlotte was a black widow."
