[at-l] Lake Luzerne NY

I recommend that you get a copy of "Guide to Adirondack Trails 7 - Southern Region". It covers the area you'll be in and the folks at the headquarters of the Adirondack Mountain Club Headquarters in Lake George (just uphill from I-87 exit #21) can probably make some suggestions. You could buy the guide book while there. You'll be spitting distance from ADK-HQ (Adirondack spitting that is). You will also be close to the Southern end of the NPT (Northville-Lake Placid Trail). You could do a section of that if you wanted. If you *need* to climb a mountain you could climb Cathead. It has a firetower atop it.

You will be a ways (60+ miles) from the High Peaks but peaks there are peaks doable as a day trip. If you wanted to try a High Peak (one of the 4000'+ peaks) I'd recommend Cascade (Guide to Adirondack Trails 1 - High Peaks Region). Also in the High Peaks Region (and a smidgeon closer) is Noonmark Mt., not a High Peak but one of the most awesome summit views in the Adirondacks.

Heading up to Lake Luzerne NY for an 8 day vacation, anyone have any ideas on hiking trails in that area?
