Well, I learned a little trick from Kimber & Cesars PCT journal.  They 
actually cook there evening meal, then hike a mile or so away then set up camp.  
However, If I'm at a shelter with other people, I wouldn't be so worried.  Surely 
I could outrun at least ONE of the people in the shelter :)
