SPEAKING OF WHICH:
Becareful with Identifying info while hiking.  Just read -- elsewhere -- of
a camper who "lost" their keys, with an ID tag, while hiking.  Got home to
an empty house -- I mean everything was gone. 

I usually use coding or a "drop" box for somethings.  The only IDing info I
carry plain is emergency contact info (homebase people's phone numbers,
doctors number...) and emergency info such as blood type, meds, etc.
