Somewhere I read that Vitamin B-1 was an effective bug repellent if taken a
day or two (and continued use was the norm) before setting out on a hike in the
woods. I bought the B-1 but have not put it to the test as of this date.
The place where I read it said that the Thiamin gave off an odor undetectable to
humans (and after a day of hiking how could anyone detect anything from a
human) but recognized by flying insects and ticks, etc.
Is this true? Has anyone any experience with this theory. Imagine! An
antidote to mosquitos and other pests in a vitamin! Can it be true?
