[at-l] Information needed re Great Barrington

I've been off the list for a few weeks now.  I just became a victim of the economic downturn bug and lost my job at the university.  There's a good chance my website will be shut down in a few weeks, also.  It is operated off the university's server.

I'm still planning to make my 6th section hike this year if job interview plans don't get in the way.  Hope to leave OKC on the Big Dog bus on July 7th and get to Great Barrington, MA by the afternoon of July 9th.  If I'm lucky my hike this year will take me from Great Barrington, MA to Hanover, NH.

Can someone tell me how far it is to the trail crossing at Hwy 7 from (1) the bus stop in front of the Day's Inn in Great Barrington, or (2) from the shopping center where the outfitters is located on Hwy 7?

I walked into the shopping center from the trail crossing on Hwy 7 when I got off the trail last year, but caught a ride into town later and can't remember whether it is too far to try to walk back to the trail crossing, or whether I would recognize it if I did.  I'm a little concerned that I will recognize it because I didn't see the trail crossing when we drove by it in the bus when I left last year.  I may just call a cab to take me if it is too far.  I should be arriving on the bus about 1:00 p.m. and want to hike the first 6 miles or so to the shelter from the trail crossing at the highway.
