<< Does anyone know what the weather is usually like on the AT in Virginia
north of the James River in late Oct.? Would it be worth the risk of going
during that time to do about 45 miles north of the river? >>
Yes - like Beau said, it's about the best time of year to have the highest
chance of perfect conditions. But don't be surprised if there's a late
October cold snap (low 20's at night - 40 during the day). This is more of a
possibility north of route 60, above 3,000 feet. But it's more likely that
the 4-ish days you're out there won't be like that.
