Bi-polars / Manic-depressives (was) RE: [at-l] violence at 4 pines revisited

Bi-polars do not necessarily get set-off by alcohol when they are off or on
their meds.  Bi-polars (Manic-depressives' new name) are basically people
who swing between bouts of feeling REALLY GREAT!!! and bouts of feeling
really low (too bad there is not a font for under-capitalization).  And that
is REALLY SIMPLIFYING it.  Some will act out and some will not when drunk.
And that is true of all people.  Please don't make it seem that
Manic-Depressives are dangerous people.  Either on or off their meds.  You
probably know more Bi-polars than you think and probably many get roaring
drunk at times with no harm -- except maybe to themselves.

An update just received from one who was there.  FYI.

Hey Tinman...  Just a few news worthy issues.  I'm going to be brief 
with
this so if you want more details just ask.  Fubar got really drunk at 
the
new 4- Pines Hostel near Catawba, Virginia and then proceeded to 
get
violant.  He choked a hiker name Indiana Slim and myself and a 
hiker named
Green Man pulled him off the guy.  About a hour later while people 
were
sleeping he was out of his mind because he was yelling out behind 
the
"garage" of this Hostel when a lady came up to him and made a 
smart
comment about his actions. Fubar then Choked her and Tripp had 
to pull him
off of her. Me, Green Man, And Bodhi grabbed him and held him 
down untill
he calmed down. It was like he was an animal or something. I've 
never seen
him act in this way before. Ever since he met Tripp he has been 
drinking
so much and not really acting like Fubar.  When Sober he is the 
nice Fubar
but at night they drink so much. She's an alcoholic for sure.  Fubar 
is
Bi-Polar and the alcohol sets it off since he doesn't take his 
medication.
