What's your generation?
 
I knew lots of guys in my generation and the generations that touched it who
were mouthy and got themselves into lots of trouble.  As to today's kids,
many of them are good kids.  I know some who drink and smoke and still call
me sir.  I really don't think that they are too much worse than those of my
generation.
 
On the AT in 92 I ran into a Scout troop.  The kids went out of their way to
make room for me in the shelter and when one bozo refused to move, they made
him.  In fact he was the last one who got to bed down before the storm hit.
I kind of felt sorry for him because his scoutmaster kept giving him duties
and he was the last one to tent down.  When they left, they gave me their
"leftovers" since they were going to be picked up at the next road crossing.
 
And one of my best hs friends almost got us beat up by mouthing off to some
bikers.  
 
Every generation has jerks who ASSUME too much.  Remember assume is
ASS+U+ME.

PS    My generation?  Let's just say I remember Elvis on TV -- his first
appearence.

Well in my generation most guys learned the hard way before they get out of
their teens that loose lips can lead to black eyes.  I'm not sure if the
current generation is learning that since the schools are cracking down on
fighting. But of course there are some that will never learn the lesson,
they tend to be drunks, smoke cigarettes and probably have other less legal
habits too.

PS     Guys as well as girls assume that they are immune from danger.  Watch
COPS sometimes.  A lot of those guys think they are immune from remarks they
make.  And I've seen the same thing happen in bars.  Only, bar patrons are
not always so polite as Cops.
