Not really. There is only one Appalachian Trail Ranger. He's stationed at
Harpers Ferry. Rangers assigned to other parks and national forests through
which the trail passes help.

 But in Maine where most of the trail is owned by the NPS, there is still
 enforcement. MATC complained about a couple that had defaced the new East
 Branch Lean-to. Investigators from Harpers Ferry traced them down, made them
 clean the graffiti  and fined them.

  Weary
