[at-l] Trail Report #1 May 28

Hi Everyone,

After hiking in rain for 4 days we finally made it to
the Delaware Water Gap May 27. We're taking a day off
to clean clothes, resupply and generally give our
bodies a rest. I have 3 blisters so far that are
small but annoying. The rocks have really battered up
our feet pretty well. Thank the Lord I'm out of
Pennsylvania and the rocks! No offense, Gail and
Robert, but I'll never hike it again!!!

We will leave out of here tomorrow morning, walk
across the Delaware Water Gap Bridge (about 1 mile)
and then we're in New Jersey. The bears are more
numerous, but the rocks are flatter, or so Hutch tells
me. It will take us about 6 or 7 days to get to New
York, but you will hear from us again before then.

We have seen a lot of North Bounders doing 20-25 miles
a day and just shake our heads at them. How can you
enjoy it at all going at that speed? They do have
deadlines though and I understand that, but....their
bodies are suffering the abuse.

We are at the library in Stroudsburg, PA at the moment
and will call for our shuttle back to the outfitters
in the Delaware Water Gap after doing some shopping
next door for food. The shuttle cost $2.00 each way
from the Pack Shack for all you other hikers
interested.

Have a great day...we are!

Sparrow and Rabbit Hutch
