I wouldn't be too concerned with the privy conditions. June will
see little Thru hiker traffic, but much more vacationer traffic.
I hope you have made reservations for space at shelters for this
section in June.

There are many ways of reaching Fontana from NFG. All of them
are challenging and fun, whether you stay on the AT or not. You
are planning reasonable distances, although I'd be willing to go
shorter on Day 1 as you break in yourself and gear. I'd make a
call to Fontana Village or to Hike Inn regarding a place to stay
and shuttle arrangements.
