I believe it!
We just spent a few days in Florida and came back absolutely covered with
bug bites, mosquitoes and red ants.  Still scratching!  We can sit outside
here and never get bitten, but impossible in Florida.  Which is why I am not
so interested in hiking the Florida Trail.
