[at-l] Perrenial Subjects: DEET and Permethrine

Lurking from time to time, totally glad to have a bit more
valuable time available.

Other than long sleeves and pants, DEET and Permethrine remain
the only two proven agents to safely reduce risks associated
with ticks, mosquitos and other insects. Permethrine dog collars
and drops do not work on humans. Our skin, especially sweat,
contains enzymes that rapidly degrades the chemical, eliminating
benefit. If one wishes to use Permethrine, read and follow the
instructions to apply it to the outside of clothing.

DEET has no clinically demonstrable adverse effects on humans,
other than the induction of hystrionics among those marketing
inferior competitors. The amount of time and numbers of uses of
this agent should have resulted in thousands of illnesses.
Conspiracy theories that The Establishment has hidden such
illnesses are untenable - China couldn't hide a handful of
pneumonia deaths.

If you have a desire to prevent exposure to Lyme disease, West
Nile Fever and other tick/mosquito bourne illnesses - learn how
to use DEET or Permethrine.
