Most do unless you buy a pair of cheapie ski poles.  The number one benefit
of using trekking or hiking poles is to take pressure and stress off your
knees.  They're also good for balance, resting on, as a pole for setting up a
tarp or a variety of silnylon tents, counter balancing food bags, protection
from critters, twirling, and flipping snakes off the trail.

Any other good uses?
