[at-l] Idiots and stuff

To whoever wyoming outdoors claims to be,

You know, if you'd get the chip off your shoulder folks would be more
inclined to listen to what you say. We're not idiots or ... holes or the
like. We're human beings who like to long distance hike, love the mountains
and woods, enjoy the places where very few have the ability or the gumption
to get to. Most of us like the diversity of the people we meet on the
trail. We take care of each other and when one gets hurt or needs help in
any way, seek to find the best access to get them what they need.

We may talk in differing languages, but even with specific expletives it's
not meant to hurt or to put down anyone in most cases. We are of all ages
and abilities, including weight and height, hair and no hair, color, and
education. The one thing that we have in common is the love of the AT, the
time[s] and miles we've spent/hiked on it. We've suffered hail,
thunderstorms, ice and snow, rocks, blisters, stepped in poop and left our
own.

I could write many more much longer paragraphs on this subject. But, we
generally respect each other and as a community we've lived with each other
in shelters, hostels, tents, caves and in other overcrowded, smelly places.
We've argued and we've sung and laughed together. We've shared each others
bed and showers in motels, given and received much food, beer, laughter,
tears, sweat and love. We intend to keep these memories and give them away
freely to anyone who would receive them. AT-L is one method of this giving
and receiving. I would ask you to at least try to respect us in our
intentions. We'll all be better for it. rusty
