May is the 1st anniversary of the passing of Earl Shaffer. It is also the
5th anniversary of Earl's 50th anniversary start of his last thru-hike.

I am his younger brother John. I promised many hikers and relatives we
would have a memorial service. This has been my first opportunity to
concentrate on an event.

After a lot of discussion we settled on Iron Masters Mansion and Pine
Grove State Park as the location. The Dates will be Saturday afternoon
evening and Sunday May 3rd and 4th 2003. Lots of Earl's favorite
