Good point.

I have known thru hikers who really appreciate home support folk meeting
them along the way.

However, I'd add a caution.

OTOH, I have known folk who whose meeting were very stressful for both
parties.  I'm not enough of a mind doctor to analyze why one works and the
other does not.  I do know that when folk who are out of shape and try to
hike along with folk who are well into a thru it often spells stress.  Other
problems, which I have seen, involve who has to modify what to accommodate
the needs of the other.  Both resentment and guilt seem to come into play
and it cuts both ways.

You might want to approach it with a degree of caution experimentation and a
large degree of openness.

Can you rendezvous with him on the Trail? Maybe several locations? I'm
rendezvousing (gee, is that how you spell it) with a friend who is
thru-hiking sobo from Maine.  I am so excited about meeting with her at
several different points on the Trail. Can you try this? If for only a
weekend?
