[at-l] War and Peace (off topic)

I remeber one scene in the Longest Day (or a Bridge Too Far or maybe it was
Battle of the Bulge) where the German general was trying to get through to
his thickheaded superior that the Americans were not defeated and were a
great danger: He held up a fresh baked cake that some mother had baked for
her son. He basically said that here were the Americans wasting fuel to
ship cakes from America to the front.

I guess the home baked would be best. Especially if someone slipped in a
few notes or pics (of the AT?). But somebody's got to be the point person
or maybe several point persons to receive the goodies, the notes, etc. We
probably could get "Brown" or Fed EX to handle the shipping. Or Mail Box
plus. Or some company like that.

One thing, do you think the government would accept homebaked goodies with
all the worry about terrorists? Think about the hub-bub about kids and
Halloween.

I tell you what, we could always get candy bars in the PX
when I was overseas. It was homemade goodies that we could
not get. I remember recieving a can of chocolate chip cookie
crumbs or melted fudge. Neither lasted very long. One of my
buddies mother send him a birthday cake! It didn't last but
a couple of minutes when he opened it up. It is the simple
things that are appreciated the most.
