[at-l] War but not THAT ONE!

Actually, as a point of interest at the Yellow Mountain Gap (on the
trail, up from the big red barn)there is a plaque commemorating the
Overmountain Victory Trail and Bright's Trace, which was used by the
frontiersmen/militia on their way from Elizabethtown,Tennessee
(Sycamore Shoals then) to defeat the British army at Kings Mountain,SC,
during the Rev War. That defeat of the British was a turning point in
the Rev War and saved the South. Those frontiersmen have often been
called the Green Mountain Boys, and were such excellent marksmen,
taking advantage of the natural cover, that they decimated the rank and
file British approach to battle. (n/c for the small history lesson).
This trail section from Sam's Gap to U.S.19E (more specifically
Carver's Gap to U.S. 19E) has long been a favorite of mine because of
all the natural "balds". June is an especially good month because of
the beautiful blooms ( flame azalea and rhododendron). Had a fun
encounter there on June 21 (NHND) two years ago...but now I digress.
