"It is 752 days, 7 hours, 55 minutes and 52 seconds until April 1, 2005
when
I
start my hike..."

Lordy, Sparky! "and 52 seconds"?
I didn't know you were an engineer! :O)

I've done trail maintaining with an engineer up in the ADKs... he
determined a film canister of Tang is the exact amount he needs for one
drink, and then packs the exact number of drinks he needs (does
"anal-retentive" have a hyphen? <g>).
His best story was about leaving base camp to dayhike a peak, and figuring
that sunset would be at six and the latest he would be back would be five
that he didn't need his headlamp (ummm, you can over-calculate this stuff).
Of course, it only gets dark at six if you can see that long. If you happen
to be under a big, black, raging thunderstorm them it gets dark at four...
he spent the night sitting on a rock in the middle of one of the streams
that passes for an Adirondack trail.... lesson learned.

Savor that countdown Sparky!
