Before I started long distance hiking I couldn't even imagine going anywher=
e or doing anything without underwear.  Now, I don't even consider taking u=
nderwear with me on the trail.  It is a total waste of weight and smelly cl=
othing.  Lined soccer shorts, or other such things, work fine, and helps pr=
event dirty, nasty, smelly, cruddy, crotchwear to contribute to chaffing.
