Yes, the treaty signed by a splinter group at New Echota was the
justification necessary for Jackson to circumvent the Supreme Court and
begin dislocation.  New Echota's about 60 miles west of Amicalola Falls and
50 miles or so north of my homestead...

The Trail of Tears began in North Georgia, didn't it?  That's where I
learned of that sad chapter in American History.

Its something to think about as one begins or ends thier hike in that part
of the country.
