[at-l] Re: Dogs

I am also an unapologetic dog-lover who would not bring my dogs on a hike.
They are excitable and friendly, but this is also intrusive to the hike of
others. HYOH is an important concept, but imposing your wishes on your dogs
and on other hikers is inconsiderate, at best.

Other hikers did not set up in a shelter to provide companionship and a dry
sleeping bag for your dog.

Other hikers will follow some etiquette and sanitation rules when
toileting. Dogs do not.

Other hikers are self-centered and only care for their well-being. Yes,
they are very much like dogs.

Please avoid their ilk by sheltering yourself and your dogs in your tent. I
am certain that it will improve your experience with your dog. My
experience is that the AT is not a natural environment for people or dogs.
I suspect 15 minutes with a pack of coyotes would illuminate the subject
for you.
