It is a different trail with a confusingly similar name. The AT's location,
i.e. exent, is bound to federal legislation.

The IAT is an extension in the sense that it begins near where the AT ends,
actually a little before (Abol bridge) because Baxter will not let another
trail start from the top of Katahdin.
