There are some dogs that are aggressive on the trail, running ahead of their
doting owners, barking and jumping on hapless, backpack-burdened hikers.
There are some dogs that defecate on the trail, and their owners just leave
it there.  There are some dogs on the trail that are muddy, loose, and can
mess up anyone's belongings.  Some will even grab your food if your back is
turned.

On the other hand, haven't we all seen dogs who are a pure delight on the
trail?  Isn't it almost entirely a case of the owner's behavior?
