OK People,

I guess that everyone on this list ASSumes that all the
pleasures of life are to be free.  Yes the AMC is known as
the Appalachian Money Club but, they maintain a hell of lot
of trail, they have educational programs and they are big
trail advocates.  All of this costs money and where does this
money come from?  Membership, fees for the huts and
campsites, and whatever else that they can collect.  Is it
different for any other trail maintaining organization.
Really, no.  They just have to make do with less money.  But
to do away with all of the fees etc will end the existence of
the trail.  Instead of complaining write a check.  Go on a
work weekend.  Give back to the trail.
