[at-l] Trail clubs

Broknspoke brought up the topic of trail club affiliations recently.
I'm a dues-payer for ATC, MATC, PATC and PATH--though, living in Florida,
I can't be an AT maintainer. Altogether, I'm a member of twelve trail
clubs and wish it were "cheaper by the dozen."

Here's the point of this post: I'm about to become a dues-payer in
support of club #13, and some others of you might want to think about
this one. It's a club for trail that's part of the Eastern Continental
Trail System, and the AT's part of that.

It's the Alabama Hiking Trail Society. The trails in Alabama are the link
between the Florida National Scenic Trail and the Georgia Pinhoti and the
Benton MacKaye Trail which then intersects the AT. So Alabama is an
important link, and really needs support. They're a VERY young
organization and don't have a lot of members yet. I always figure that
if you can get enough members, everyone's little bit of dues adds up, so
I'll join whether or not I can actually do trail work. IMHO & FWIW.
Think about it.
