[at-l] in support of maps...

(In addition to BJack's usual excellent pro-self-informed
hiker/carry the damn maps post, I offer the following...)

Roofs don't leak on a good day.

Four tires that hold air rarely need a jack.

You're not cold enough for that spare vest on a warm day.

You may not neeeeeed that map when you're found.

But when it's dark, raining cats and dogs, mud is getting into
the laceration and you're beginning to shiver from the wet and
hunger, it's a bad time to think "Which way?"

There are a number of ways to stretch out, minimize, scavenge,
and do double-duty with any *amazing* array of combinations of
your equipment, but going "out" without a map should NOT be one
of them. Cuz the day you neeeeeeeeed that map will not be a good
day in some *other* respect.

Minimize your confusion *then*, carry the map *now.*
