[at-l] Abandon a Van



Weary,
Did you say the valve gasket seals do not hold.  It maybe that the valve
covers are warped and that is the
real problem.  The old ford fairmont straight sixes had this problem badily
because they did not put enough
screws to hold the covers securely to the engine,  started leaking within
the first 20,000 miles.  You might want to look into repalceing the valve
covers if the engine has a lot more life into it. It don't do a lick of good
to reaplace seals when the cover is warped.
Not a mechanic but I've learned a thing or two along the way.  School of
hard knocks.

BTW That sort of chronic oil loss causes the pistions and valves etc to
crumble away eventually from the friction and heat so if it's been going on
for a long time your engines about to go down too and may not be worth the
price to fix.
