[at-l] Poles, was: wrist straps
Simply supplementing the fitting of a rubber tip cover with duct tape
makes sense to me. I keep my first aid duct tape on my poles, and
haven't found any problems with adherence. I personally do not believe
that rubber tips are particularly necessary or that naked carbide tips
are a substantial evnironmental hazard. I think that safety and
prevention of falls out weighs the concern over an unproven damage to
the trailbed.
If you believe that a rubber tip is better and wish to avoid having it
fall off, use tape to assure a further connection. You will still need
to assess the condition of the rubber and replace these tips. I just
don't think it is a big problem.
