[at-l] Weight issues

Tom,

I suspect that most of us are just too embarrassed to admit to the stuff th=
at we hauled up Springer and mailed home at Neel's Gap.

If it's important to you to reduce your pack weight, I suggest that you inv=
entory and weigh every single item (and I mean literally EVERY single item)=
you intend to carry. Then you can post your list and sit back and wait fo=
r comments.

I wonder if it would be possible for some one to make up a list of the
most usually things that the tuckerized people remove from their packs?

I am unable to attend the meeting so I will miss out on all the
information. IT could be very helpful to have the data so I can do my
own pack.

I have read many of the trail journals and the books that have been
written about hiking the AT. The one thing that upsets me most about
each of them is when the people write " I then checked my weight and
could remove about 5 pounds." . Then never say what they removed. That
information could be very useful for a new hiker so they do not start
out with the extra weight from the beginning.

Just a thought,
Tom
