[at-l] AT Trail System

The concept has been around for a while but has had little publicity or
support. And no money.

I think you're right, but I'll suggest it anyway. The 2000-miler award is
the only handle "anybody" has on how many thruhikers are on the Trail every
year. And it's one of the ways ATC manages to keep its funding. If the
number of awards were to suddenly drop to a number representing ONLY those
who follow only white blazes, their funding would also suffer. One of those
little points that's sometimes overlooked by those who consider only their
own ego/viewpoint. Also called the "Law of Unintended Consequences".

My observation is that most of those who demand control over other's
lives/hikes have failed to manage their own well and think they can do a
better job with yours. YMMV -

Have a good day,
Jim
