alright, I apparently have plenty to learn around here.  the main reason I
joined here was to learn about a potential thru-hike.  I have a minor in
outdoor education and have been on several lengthy excursions in the
"woods".  However, I know none of this will make my chances of "making it"
any better than my never been hiking wife.  I feel the pull every spring,
when do you start preparing for such a thing?
