My approach was a little more abrupt than most.  I wrote a letter to my
supervisor saying something like this:  "I respectfully resign effective date
."  I gave them two weeks notice, but had two week's vacation coming to me.
As it happened, my grandson, who was coming to stay with me, broke his ankle
that very day.  I had to use up the vacation time instead of working out the
time.

No regrets.
